    Robin,
It's okay, I've come to accept it. I just can't wait for him to come home now! I hope Taylor gets better and goes back to training! He sounds like a great person and would make a great Marine by you just saying how hard he is trying to get better so he can go back to trianing!

I wish him the best of luck!

Thanks, Erin. I'm confident that Taylor will do great once he's healthy. I hope your boyfriend will make a complete recovery soon as well.

    Hey Robin!
Well, today we got a letter from my boyfriend and they are sending him home because his pnemonia is not getting any better. He will be home in a month or so.. I guess it is for the best esp. with this war going on, plus he was only reservist and he wanted to go to college it just stinks that he isnt going to become a marine.

I hope Taylor gets better and moves on into training, I hope the best for him!

    Thanks for all your help,
    Erin

Erin, I'm sorry your boyfriend isn't getting better. Maybe he just needs a healthier environment and some TLC. image

We got a letter from Taylor today. He is on light duty now instead of bed rest, so I guess he's a little better. He didn't say whether or not the doctor did a chest x-ray on Thursday, but I would imagine she did since they had been getting progressively worse. He did say that she said it was going to be awhile before she would clear him for full duty and that he would have to pass the exit test again. (He passed it on Nov. 25 with a great deal of pain in his chest and abs., but ended up not going back into training after all.) He is pretty bummed about both of those things, but I'm glad that someone is finally telling him to relax and prepare to stay there awhile and get well. He's been pushing so hard to get back into training that he's probably made himself sicker. He will most likely be in EHP for Christmas, but if he's getting the care and rest that he needs, I can accept that.

    hey,
I was just wondering how Taylor was doing and was also wondering if you knew how long a recriut would stay in EHP with pnemonia before he would get discharged if he is not getting any better at all.. I hope this is not the case with either one of our boys, but I am really curious about what goes on..

    Thanks for the help,
    Erin

Hi, Erin! I don't know how long they will keep a recruit in EHP before discharging them if they're not getting better. You might be able to find out if you ask on the STC forum.

As of last Monday Taylor's chest x-rays were continuing to get worse. He had a checkup on Thursday and I'm hoping to hear soon that his lungs are improving.

Have you heard recently how your boyfriend is doing?

    Hey Robin,
Thank you for telling me your experience so far, I am obvously new to this and wanted some insight on what the heck goes on. My boyfriend was not hospitalized but he got an x-ray by another doctor and this doctor was very mad he wasnt because he thinks it might have caused asthma or cronic pnemomia, which would make him have to be discharged.. not good. He has been in EHP for aabout 3 weeks now, he was in week 4 of trianing when he got sick. I am doing good, just praying for the best. It stinks just getting letters all of the time though, I wish I could be there for him. I have no idea what the STC forum is at all so could you shed some light on that? :) I spent the night last night looking around this website and I came to realize that the people on here are very helpful and caring people. I'm glad I found this website. Thanks for the help!

Erin, I'm glad you found this website, too. It is very helpful. To find the STC forum, go to the main page. The third section down (after "Important Info." and "Parris Island" is "Support Battalion." In that section there's a thread called "STC - Special Training Company" that has a lock symbol to the left of it. Click on that forum and send a message to the moderator letting her know that your boyfriend is in EHP with pneumonia and you would like to have access to the STC forum. Within 24 hours you should get a message telling you that you've been accepted and then you will be able to post there and read other people's posts. There's also a section called "Encouraging Words" (or something like that which has a lot of good Bible verses, inspirational quotes, poems, etc. I usually copy something from there for each letter that I send to my son. There are some people on the STC forum whose recruits went through things even worse than yours and mine, so it made me thankful to know that my son's not as bad off as he could be. Like I said, there are some very encouraging and helpful people there that will welcome you in. I'll be on the look out for your post. Hang in there and feel free to tell your boyfriend to try to find my son, Rct. Schmitt, in EHP. He's 6'5", thin, and wears glasses, so he shouldn't be too hard to find.

    Robin
